My name is Gabe Anderson.

I’ve clicked on About sections like this many times in the past and it’s most often for one of two reasons…

I’m already into what’s going on and I want to know more

Or

To see if the person is famous enough to make it easy for me to buy in

I’m not famous. If that’s what you were hoping for, sorry. Feel free to move along.

For those on board…

I grew up two hours north of Minneapolis in a small town called Staples. I started a band before I had a bass, and then started many more bands after I got one.

Once I graduated high school I moved to Nashville for college. After college I started a band called The Kicks. We played our first gig to a completely empty room (Stop345 in Memphis) and a handful of years later grew to play gigs in big venues for lots of people.

Post band I began writing blog posts everyday with the underlying theme of: making time spent in the music and entertainment business worthwhile. Writing continues to connect me to the world I’m in and want to keep making better.

Ok so what else? I’m a live show producer, which is to say I help artists make their shows better, both performance and musically. I play bass, write songs, started a music licensing company pitching for tv/film, strategize with and advise artists…and put together a ten songs playlist each month called Hum Love on Spotify and Apple.

I know this is just a static About page, but I’m glad you’re here. Click around, sign up for the blog, it’s been helpful to me and lots of others both in the music business and outside of it.

Perhaps a little more? Here’s a bunch…

-In my college marketing class there was a contest to see who could come up with the best sales slogan for milk… I won…”This Ain’t Your Momma’s Milk”

-For a long time I thought .38 Special was telling a girl named Loosley to just hold on.

-I love Seinfeld.

-I’ve had four basses and two pedal boards stolen over the years. MusicPro insurance is inexpensive and vital.

-You can check out my 50 favorite songs here.

-In high school I hit a game winning three pointer at the buzzer.

-I met my wife Sarah at a show I was playing in Alabama.

-Every October we start making up the game to be played at our Christmas party.

-Two movies I’ve watched more than any others: That Thing You Do and Hoosiers.

-I don’t have a case on my iPhone.

-Only decaf for me these days.

-I’m into sneakers.

-My first bass was an Ibanez Silver Cadet.

-But I actually played saxophone in middle school and percussion in high school.

-I recently snowboarded for the first time and loved it.

-Can’t drive a stick.

-While its a sign of maturity to be able to delay pleasure, I can get stuck in the delay part.

-Dave Grohl bought me fried chicken.

The difference between the recorded version and the live version is what performing is all about.
