The Coffee And Mug

The coffee mug doesn’t make the coffee taste different and yet we much prefer certain mugs over others. Because the coffee just tastes better out of our favorite mugs.

For most of us, part of what we’re selling is the coffee (the quality and unique taste) and partly it’s the mug (the story).

Breakfast Conversations

The breakfast conversation is different than the dinner conversation.

The chatter in the back bench of the van is different than in the front seats.

The phone call from the office sounds different than the one walking through the park.

Maybe it’s not as important to ask why this is, but rather, embrace it and put yourself in the places and conversations you thrive in.

Attracting A Crowd

There are a few easy things that would attract a crowd almost every time.

But the point isn’t to just attract a crowd.

We want to attract a crowd doing our specific thing.

We want a crowd that is attracted to what we do.

We want what we do to serve the expectations wrapped up in that attraction.

We want to serve a crowd that wants to be served.

We get so busy attracting a crowd that we forget to serve our crowd.

The Most Talented Team...

often doesn’t mean the best team.

It turns out working together, having a cohesive plan, knowing your role within the whole, enhancing others’ strengths, experience, and persistence enhances a group of people beyond what it seems their raw talent level is.

There’s a good chance that the crew you think is super talented is simply good at all the things listed above.

Good Stress

When your set of problems is so specific, so on track with your goal, and so unique to the people on the team…and the deadline is near…even the stress is a work of art. And it’s really beautiful.

What a blessing to be in the position of doing great work and experiencing the unique stress that goes along with it.
